The Sceptres are one of the PWHL’s original teams and from the very beginning, they were elite. They finished first overall in the league’s inaugural regular season, setting the standard early.

They’ve had deep runs, strong starts, even going up in series, and then losing it.  Every season of this team feels like this might finally be the one. They are an elite but unfinished team with controlled dominance, and sadly, like every team in Toronto, they can never finish.

The Sceptres are royalty-coded. Think deep blues, gold accents, with a clean, structured design. Their name references a sceptre, like a royal symbol, tying into Toronto’s history as the “Queen City.”

Turnbull she brings leadership, experience, and that gritty captain energy every serious team needs. Plus, she’s sitting near the top of the team in points, so she’s leading by example too.

✧ Natalie Spooner

The name you know for a reason. Spooner is one of Toronto’s biggest stars! She’s powerful, experienced, and always capable of changing the energy of a game. Even when she’s not at the very top of the stat sheet, her presence matters. 

✧ Renata Fast

Fast is one of those defenders who makes the whole team feel more stable. She logs big minutes, plays smart, and does the little things that don’t always look flashy but absolutely matter. She’s the backbone, in my opinion.

✧ Daryl Watts

The ultimate offensive spark plug. Watts led the team in points! She brings skill, creativity, and feeling of  “something could happen every time she touches the puck”.

The Lore (and Why It Matters)

Toronto has had everything! They’ve finished first in the regular season, they have award winners across the board, star players at every position, and huge attendance, record-breaking games. Yet, no Walter Cup. They’ve even had a series where they were up early and still lost, which means this team lives in a constant state of “They should win it all… but will they?” This season, they didn’t make the playoffs.

Why You Should Pick Them

Pick the Toronto Sceptres if you love elite, high-level hockey, want a team that dominates (most of the time), are drawn to almost-there storylines, and enjoy a little emotional trauma with your wins. They really are the counterpart to the Leafs in its truest form. This is the team you pick when you want excellence but also a reason to stay invested. The Toronto Sceptres don’t need to prove they’re good, they just need to finish the story, and when they finally do it’s going to feel like the biggest weight was lifted.
