Tell Me Lies: The On and Off-Screen Romance of Grace Van Patten and Jackson White

Hulu's hottest show "Tell Me Lies" is back for its third season following the tumultuous college relationship of Lucy Albright and Stephen Demarco whose co-stars Grace Van Patten and Jackson White are dating in real life. It's rare to hear that an on/off screen couple gets screamed at walking down the street, but that is just how into it their fans are. People are so traumatized by Stephen’s character that they are scared for Grace when, in reality, Jackson White couldn't be any more opposite from his manipulative character on screen. It's a reflection of not only how intoxicating Stephen and Lucy’s relationship is, but also how good of a job acting they do.

"Tell Me Lies" is like no other -- watching the influence Stephen has on the whole college friend group, not just Lucy. The merging of Lucy and Stephen heavily affects their close friends which ends up turning all the characters into people who make the worst possible decisions. From college years to the present day, where their best friends Evan and Bree are getting married, Stephen and Lucy are still playing games with each other seven years in, even with many years separated. Following the first episodes of season three, fans are struck at how Stephen has in fact gotten worse. Grace Van Patten in a recent interview answered why she feels Lucy can’t just walk away from Stephen, “I think they’re deeply, deeply connected in a very messed up way”. His presence shakes Lucy no matter how long it's been since they last saw each other. The way they love continues to make this show incredibly interesting and watching how Grace and Jackson's romance off screen is the total opposite, keeps people wanting more.

As a viewer myself, it's crazy to think about all the horrible things Lucy and Stephen do to each other, and how after a day of filming they just go home together and make dinner.  I’m so incredibly happy for Grace and Jackson and I think, as a fan, they are the perfect match. They always kill a red carpet, especially with Grace’s fashion sense, but sometimes that is what reminds fans they aren’t the characters they play on screen. I’ve seen many tweets and comments about people realizing or being reminded from a red carpet that they are together in real life. Part of why I think it works so well is they are very private, but not secret. So, if it's been a while since a season or any sort of event they’ve been at, when they are seen again, it's like a refresher. Three seasons in, the yelling on the street isn’t as common and people love watching them as a real-life couple, even if it might be a little traumatizing. With the talk of this possibly being the final season of “Tell Me Lies", it has fans, including me, wondering how much more would we see Grace and Jackson together in a work sense. They certainly work great together and are the perfect pair for Stephen and Lucy. Either way, it's all about being in the now which includes a new captivating “Tell Me Lies” episode every week where we are all reminded of how crazy Stephen Demarco and Lucy Albright are unlike their co-stars in real life.
