A Pretty Girls Guide to the Minnesota Frost

A Pretty Girls Guide to the Minnesota Frost

because sometimes your team isn’t an underdog… it’s the one everyone’s trying to catch

Intro

From the moment the PWHL started, the Minnesota Frost they didn’t just show up,  they took over, in a slightly terrifying way where you just know they’re going to figure it out when it matters. If you’re the kind of girl who loves confidence, dominance, and a team that thrives under pressure (and maybe breaks hearts a little along the way)… welcome. This is your team.

So… Who Are the Minnesota Frost?
  • City: Saint Paul (Minneapolis–Saint Paul area)

  • League: Professional Women's Hockey League

  • Home Arena: Grand Casino Arena

  • Colors: purple, lavender, white

  • Founded: 2023

The Frost are one of the PWHL’s original teams, but unlike most expansion teams, they didn’t take time to build. They won back-to-back Walter Cups in 2024 and 2025, making them the league’s first dynasty.

The Vibe Check

The Minnesota Frost are calm, clutch, and lowkey ruthless. They’re the team that stays composed no matter the score, comes back when they shouldn’t, and somehow always peaks at the exact right moment. Like… they literally pulled off a reverse sweep in the playoffs (losing the first two games, then winning three straight) on their way to a championship. That’s not luck. That’s mentality.

The Aesthetic

The Frost are winter-coded perfection.

Think:

  • soft lavender tones mixed with deep purple

  • icy whites

  • clean, minimal, polished visuals

Their name literally comes from Minnesota’s love of ice, and their logo features icicles — which is very on-brand because they play like they have ice in their veins.

The Girls You Need to Know

(aka your immediate favorites)

✧ Kendall Coyne Schofield (Captain)

Face of the team. Fast, driven, and a natural leader. She’s the kind of player you build a team around and they did.

✧ Taylor Heise

First overall draft pick energy. She literally led the playoffs in scoring during their championship run and won MVP.

✧ Grace Zumwinkle

Scored a hat trick in one of their early games and went on to win Rookie of the Year. She’s that girl.

✧ Maddie Rooney

Another goalie, another main character. Calm, reliable, and shows up when it matters most.

The Lore (and Why It Matters)

Minnesota didn’t just win once, they made it a pattern. They won the first-ever Walter Cup, then came back and won it again the next year. And they didn’t do it easily, they fought through elimination, handled pressure, and proved they’re built for big moments. Also, Minnesota has deep hockey culture. When their previous women’s team folded, the Frost stepped in and filled that space instantly and elevated it.  This isn’t just a team, it’s a hockey state with a team that lives up to it.

Why You Should Pick Them

Pick the Minnesota Frost if you:

  • like dominant teams that still feel earned

  • want to watch elite-level hockey

  • love clutch, high-pressure performances

  • prefer calm confidence over chaos

This is the team you pick when you don’t want stress, you want results. The Minnesota Frost don’t chase the moment, they are the moment. And if you’re watching them now, then you’re watching a dynasty in real time.
