Long Story Short by Kat Singleton

Review by Maryam at Pretty Girls Playbook

Long Story Short follows Josie, a romance author who escapes to her family’s home in the Hamptons after her latest manuscript isn't exactly getting rave reviews from her publishers. All she needs to do is get away, fix the book, and meet her deadline, but unfortunately for that plan, her new neighbor happens to be Tyson Bishop.

Long Story Short was such a cute and easy read! I loved that Josie is a romance author because the whole idea of a romance writer needing inspiration for her own love story and then finding it in the guy next door is just so fun. The “he’s her muse” part of this was probably one of my favorite things about the book, because Tyson is SO easy to love! He’s sweet, attentive, supportive of Josie and her writing, and he definitely falls first, and hard. I loved all the little ways he showed up for her and their chemistry felt really natural instead of forced. The slow burn and tension were definitely there, but the relationship still had that soft, comforting feeling to it too.

But I need to talk about Tyson for a second. He’s not appealing because he’s a billionaire or because he’s ridiculously charming (although...those things certainly aren't hurting his case), it’s all the small ways he pays attention to Josie. He supports her writing, actually listens to her, remembers things about her and genuinely wants to make her life easier. His love language is definitely acts of service and it shows, and as a girl who loves a man like that, I ate him up.

I also just absolutely love the Hamptons setting of this series, but I specifically love the neighbors to lovers setup and honestly just how easy this book was to get into. This book had the perfect mix of romance, tension, spice, and cute little moments that had me smiling while reading.

If you love neighbors to lovers, he falls first, forced proximity, age gap, billionaire romance, and a bookish FMC, this one is definitely worth picking up. 💌

Anyway, Tyson Bishop, welcome to the Book Boyfriend roster.
